Erik ten Hag, a Dutch coach who once managed Manchester United, has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just two Bundesliga matches.
The German top-flight club made the decision on Monday following Ten Hag’s failure to secure a win in either of the two league games he managed. His team drew 3-3 with Werder Bremen and lost 2-1 to Hoffenheim.
In a brief statement released by the club, Bayer Leverkusen said:
“Bayer Leverkusen has parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag. Assistant coaches will take over on an interim basis.”
The former Manchester United and Ajax manager had joined Bayer Leverkusen this summer on a two-year contract, replacing Xabi Alonso, who left the club to join Real Madrid.
